Itinerary

Conducting preliminary research on flights from your nearest airport to find the most cost-effective options for landing in and departing from Morocco would be valuable. Please note that our tours are flexible, and we can commence from any city that aligns with your schedule.

Day 1: Pick-up from Casablanca Port - Drive to Rabat - Meknes - Fes - (Boulaajoul)

DESCRIPTION: We will have a meet-and-greet at Casablanca port where you will see our Best Travel logo, We will wait for each individual to check-in the vehicles. We will explore the economic capital of the kingdom and its largest city. We will begin your discovery of the imperial cities with a visit to the courtyards of the splendid Hassan II Mosque. It is the world’s second largest mosque and one of the Islamic world’s greatest monuments. It is also the only working mosque in Morocco that can be visited by non-Muslims. We will depart along the coast to visit Rabat if time allows, the political capital of Morocco, and walk around the impressive and unmatched Mohammed V Mausoleum and the Hassan Tower - the landmark of Rabat and one of the oldest mosques. We will leave towards Meknes or the “Moroccan Versailles”, which was founded at the end of the 17th Century by Moulay Ismail. Highlights of Meknes include Bab Mansour, Sahrij Souani and the old Medina. You will be free to explore and find some lunch before we depart to Volubilis, UNESCO-sponsored Roman ruins, and the sacred town of Moulay Idriss, where the founder of Islam in Morocco is buried. We will then continue to Fès, where we will check-in at your hotel, have dinner and spend the night, in the evening you have time to go out have dinner and discover Fes at night.

Note: Today depends on what time you check-out from the ferry, if you it’s after 10 AM, we might spend the night in a town at the foothills of the Middle Atlas mountains in order to arrive the desert early the next day and do the dunes buggies and quad bikes before riding the camels.

Day 2: Fes – Ifrane - Azrou - Midelt – Ziz Canyon & oasis - Erfoud - Merzouga – Camel trekking in the Erg Chebbi.

DESCRIPTION: After picking you up from your hotel in Fes,  we will embark on a picturesque journey towards Ifrane, through hills covered in forests of cork oak and giant cedar in which a few Barbary apes still make their home. Crossing strikingly beautiful passes over both the Middle and High Atlas ranges we will catch our first glimpse of the South’s incredible architecture. After passing through a barren plain of scrub and desert on the other side of the mountains, we will stop for lunch in the town of Midelt, from which we will have a fantastic view of the dramatic peaks of the High Atlas rising behind the town. Crossing Tizi-n-Talremt (Pass of the She-Camel), we will descend into a desert plain along the Ziz Valley. We will then head south to Erfoud and Rissani, into a huge oasis containing over six million palm trees, edged by many ksours (fortified villages). Our route will continue through an immense palm oasis and a vast area of stony plain that marks the transition to the desert before reaching the tranquil desert town of Merzouga in the afternoon, from which we will mount our camels and ride into the pink sands of the Erg Chebbi. We will have time to wander around the dunes before watching the sunset, and will spend the evening in a Berber camp amidst the dunes where we will have a campfire and enjoy a traditional Moroccan feast. After dark you can relax outside and marvel at the stars and crystal-clear Milky Way like few people have seen them.

Day 3: Merzouga - Erfoud - Toroug  - Dades Valley - Rose Valley - Skoura - Ouarzazate - Atlas Mountains - Marrakech - Free night in Marrakech

If you would like, your camel guide will wake you up early so that you can watch the spectacle of sunrise, when the colour of the dunes contrast beautifully with the play of shadows. After breakfast and shower we will continue our journey to the fortified village of Rissani and Erfoud in the Tafilalet region. Nestled at the edge of the Ziz Valley. We continue our journey through the impressive Tinerhir Oasis, with its green valley of palms and traditional villages, before continuing on a scenic drive along the Valley of 1000 Kasbahs”, with wonderful views across the fertile Dades Valley passing fields cultivated by Berber women, with the peaks of the High Atlas as a fitting backdrop. Our journey will continue toward Skoura Oasis  and Ouarzazate also known as the “Hollywood of Morocco”, our route continues to Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, the most famous kasbah in Morocco, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the backdrop for many Hollywood blockbusters such as “Gladiator” “Indiana Jones” and “Lawrence of Arabia''. If time allows, we will make a short visit to the kasbah, Before we continue across the territory of the powerful Glaoui tribe where a number of ancient kasbahs and fortified granaries dot the countryside. We will cross the picturesque High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi N Tichka pass at an altitude of 7,415 feet, the highest vehicular pass in Morocco. The road passes through various villages that are typical of northern slopes of the mountains, where corn can be seen ripening in the sun on the packed earth roofs of the stone houses. Around midday we will reach Marrakech, the second largest imperial city in Morocco, also known as “The Pearl of South''.

Day 4 : Free time in Marrakech with optional city sightseeing tour - Depart to Casablanca at 11:30 am to be in the SAS ship 3:30 PM

On your last morning in Marrakech you will have a little bit of time, so we will begin our two to three hour sightseeing tour, escorted by an official local guide. Inside the rose coloured medina walls is a tangle of winding streets and alleys that open onto verdant gardens and bustling souks, the perfect place to hone your bargaining skills. We will visit the Bahia Palace, Koutoubia Minaret and the Menara Gardens, as well as the vibrant and chaotic Djemaa El Fna square, which by day is a marketplace, but by night transforms into an open air theatre and a place for non-stop entertainment. You will have the evening to spend as you wish. Your guide will also suggest some optional activities for your night in Marrakech. If you would like to just have free wander around and look for any souvenirs or last-minute gifts for friends before we pack up and make the short drive back to Casablanca. We will leave Marrakech around 11:30 a.m., leaving plenty of time to return to the SAS ship for departure.

Arrival in Casablanca, Afternoon at Your Leisure

We will meet you upon your arrival in Casablanca to accompany you to your hotel, where you can relax and settle in. Depending on your arrival time, you may wish to take a guided tour of the city before having dinner and spending the night.

Fes to the Edge of the Sahara

We continue our journey onwards from Fes to Ifrane, through hills blanketed in forests of cork oak and giant cedar, where a few Barbary apes still call home. Passing through the Middle and High Atlas ranges, we will catch our first glimpse of Southern Morocco’s unique architectural style and stop for lunch overlooking a breathtaking view of the dramatic peaks of the High Atlas rising behind the town of Midelt. As we descend into the desert plains, the view changes from dramatic mountain peaks to an expansive oasis punctuated by countless Ksours (fortified villages), which then give way to a vast stony plain that marks the edges of the Sahara. Once among the dunes, you will be welcomed into a charming Kasbah where you will be able to relax beside the swimming pool, and enjoy the tunes of a desert blues band well into the evening.

Desert Sunrise, Return to Marrakech Hotel or Airport

At your request, our staff will wake you at the crack of dawn to witness the spectacle of the desert sunrise, the colour of the sand contrasting beautifully with the palette of shadows on the dunes. After some light breakfast and tea we will ride the camels back across the desert to the Kasbah to freshen up before our journey North back towards the Atlas Mountains. We will stop along the way at N’kob for lunch over some fantastic mountain views, and participate in an optional fossil discovery workshop before resuming our journey to Marrakech. Once we arrive in Marrakech, our guide will take you directly to your riad or hotel.

Marrakech at Your Leisure, Casablanca in the Afternoon

Marrakech is a sensory-rich city with a unique blend of ancient traditions and modern conveniences. In the morning, you may want to try a Moroccan hammam or a spa, try your hand at a local cooking class, or perhaps take a ride on a donkey cart around the city. Whatever it may be, our guide is at your service to help with suggestions, information, and arrangements. In the afternoon we will return to Casablanca, where we will have plenty of time to relax and settle in the night.
